Roberson's Report, Feb 3: 0 words

Yesterday was a big ole goose-egg, fiction wise. I wrote loads of nonfiction, and did a whole mess of outlining for the next story, but didn't turn my hand to writing fiction in the slightest.

Apropos of nothing, I wish I'd had this essay on "Comics Grammar & Tradition" in front of me when I was writing Cinderella: From Fabletown With Love. I've been reading comics my whole life, and there were still quite a few lettering "rules" I'd never really noticed before.

  1. Your non-fiction words should count, shouldn't they?

  2. Sorry it was a no go on the fiction front, but thanks for the link to "Comics Grammar & Tradition", you have given me fuel to fight my ongoing battle with my co-writer that double dashes are the right way to go! (although I think I am the only one aware we are fighting about it)

  3. Should non-fiction count? I can tally it up, if so. What does everyone think?

  4. In the interest of fairness, I think writing is writing, so I'm going to go ahead and make a call and say that they count.

  6. I would say yes, but only if it's nonfiction writing for publication. Shopping lists and journal entries and other such stuff can't count.

  7. The bulk of it was interviews and the like, but I think to keep things simple I'm going to stick with just tallying fiction.

  8. Ohhhhh, my apologies. I thought you were writing a non-fiction book, not just answering interviews. Sorry about that!
